FROM THE CHAIR
Doug Larsen is a man worth remembering. He fought for what he believed in. He built businesses and relationships. He demanded respect and quickly became a leader in the North Dakota legislature. Doug Larsen’s life ended when he died in a tragic plane crash with his family.
Life moves quickly, sometimes we do not notice as it passes.
Media distracts from the passage of life. The so-called “news” moves at a torrid pace, flying from one emergency to the next. It is built so everything is forgotten just as fast as it comes.
We’ve become separated from memory. As a leaf falls from the tree, we are blown around with every breathless wind. This is not the way of wisdom.
Senator Larsen’s life is worth remembering. His tragedy reminds us to stop and reflect on our own lives. What will I build? Who do I build for? Will it last for those I leave behind?
Senator Doug Larsen has taught me this: Remember the way of good men.
Follow in their steps.
Build on their shoulders.
Perhaps it is then we will live a life worth remembering.
