Endorsement: Sebastian Ertelt

Sebastian "Seabass" Ertelt for District 28 Senate

Sebastian has long been a supporter and member of the Young Republicans. Even though at 42 years old he has aged out of the organization (the membership requirement is 18-40), we believe he will continue to be a strong advocate for the Republican platform and the values of our state. This has been consistently represented by his voting record in the ND House of Representatives. He recently has received the honor of being selected as the endorsed candidate by the District 28 Republican Party to represent them in the Primary Election for the ND Senate.

Sebastian's favorite part of the NDGOP platform is "Family and the American Moral Tradition", followed closely by "Personal Responsibility." He believes families are the building block of society, is strongly Pro-Life, recognizes the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, and believes that without personal responsibility the rest of the platform is meaningless.  Sebastian's values and the decision to reject compromise position him to continue to be a strong advocate for parental rights, recognizing the important role that they play in the education of their children. He believes parents have the right to rear and educate their children according to high standards of character and quality; with minimal government interference.

We believe his passion for service and willingness to advocate for the interests of current and future Young Republicans, along with his roots in the NDYR, makes him a candidate worthy of our endorsement for his run for the District 28 Senate seat.

Please join us in giving him your support!

Endorsement: Damian Johnston

Greetings fellow Young Republicans!

Damian Johnston is running for for Valley City School Board.

Damian Johnston is a 19-year-old high school graduate who currently works as a John Deere diesel mechanic and serves on the Valley City volunteer fire department. Damian grew up in a politically active family and has volunteered on numerous successful campaigns throughout his life, including those of Cramer for Senate and Armstrong for Congress. Damian has also served as the Southeast Region Chairman of the North Dakota Young Republicans for the last year and a half.  In 2020, he received the NDYR “Top Door Knocker” award for his work during the Young Republicans deployment on the successful Michelle Fishbach Campaign for Minnesota District 7 (western MN region), ousting a 30-year Democrat incumbent.

Damian’s commitment to his community has compelled him to run for an open position on the Valley City School Board. He views the public education system in North Dakota as a failure that is not living up to the expectations of the parents. From poor test scores to COVID tyranny, Damian believes there is a lot of work to be done to get our school system back to where it once was. “Parents have a vested interest in their child’s education”, Damian said, “we need to ensure they have access to what their child is taught.”

Damian believes that the best school board member is one who is easily accessible, and available to invest time into the position.  His track record with NDYR attests to this, as he has stepped up to the plate many times during his 4+ year involvement in the organization.

We believe that Damian is the candidate for the job, and are happy to support him for this position.

Endorsement: Matthew Heilman

Greetings fellow Young Republicans!

Matt Heilman is running for ND State House in District 7.

Matt is from Bismarck and is studying accounting at Bismarck State College, planning to complete his degree at NDSU.

Matt has long been passionate about politics. He has been involved in District 7 Republicans, serving as a precinct committeeman, and volunteers with ND Young Republicans.

As a student, Matt became concerned with the growing influence of Marxist and liberal ideas in his education. He knows that the far-left agenda isn't empty rhetoric, but a set of ideas that wish to revolutionize and overturn the values that have held our communities and families together for centuries. He understands action is required, that if we do nothing our values will continue to be eroded. With a fresh perspective on how to address our problems, Matt will promote conservative ideas and bring real solutions.

Matt will fight for medical freedom, property tax reform, and education reform. He believes that we should not waiver in the face of opposition and will work to uphold the Republican values that have made our great state strong.

Matt is a conservative with a different perspective. He knows firsthand what the liberal agenda can do; he is ready to step up and put a stop to it. Matt Heilman is committed to being a statesman who cares for the people of District 7 and will serve them well.

Endorsement: Brandon Prichard

Brandon for District 8 House

Brandon Prichard is running for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 8.  He is firmly planted on the Republican party platform and seeks to uphold the conservative Christian values that it was established upon.  Brandon’s activity in local politics dates back to 2017, when he joined the newly formed High School Republicans of North Dakota, and was later elected as state chair in 2018.  Since that time, Brandon has worked on the successful Armstrong and Cramer campaigns, all while completing his undergrad.  If given the chance to represent District 8, Brandon is committed to remaining accountable and accessible to his constituents and our state.

NDYR has had an active role in supporting high school republicans since their inception, and we couldn’t be more excited to see where Brandon has gone in the past five years.

Please join us in supporting Brandon as he accepts the responsibility to step up and conduct the business of our great state, as a proud Christian, Conservative, and Republican.

Greetings fellow Young Republicans!

Kord for District 39 Senate

Andrew Kordonowy is running for the North Dakota Senate in District 39.  He stands on the Republican platform, believing that principled, individual, freedoms governed by the same vision that the founding fathers had for our country are necessary for a sustainable constitutional republic. Kord is a long-time member of NDYR and has helped expand our influence west, representing the South West Region as Region Co-Chairman residing in Dickinson.  He is a US Army veteran, has served as the Chairman for NDGOP District 36, testified on various state bills, and is active in his local community.  Kord’s passion for conservative values has led him to this office, and he is determined to advance these principles in our great state.
